Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at haylee@nod.org.nz if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Who runs the PlayPods and how do they work?

PlayPods are hosted by fully vetted, trained, and experienced NOD nannies. Ratios are kept safe and small - 1:3 for under-5s, with slightly larger groups for older children depending on the activity. Each pod has a maximum of 9 children and up to 3 nannies. Before your session, you’ll be added to a temporary WhatsApp group with the host nannies and other parents (set up the day prior, closed after). You can request photos during the session or opt out.On the day, simply drop your child to our nannies at the location — they’ll be easy to spot in NOD t-shirts. Please bring a change of clothes, water, and any required snacks (details will be included in your booking email).

What do I need to pack?

A change of clothes, water and sometimes (if required) a snack. Please read the instructions in the email carefully to ensure you pack the right items for your activity.

What hours do PlayPods operate?

Every PlayPod activity is on a different schedule, Monday through to Sunday. Please check the write up for the individual event to read more.

Can I trust your nannies and sitters?

We absolutely think so! We only work with professionals we’d trust with our own children. Our nannies and sitters are actively engaged in the industry, working full or part-time, and they are cherished members of their communities. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to us at hello@nod.org.nz or call +64 21 631 223. We’re here to help.

Will I get photos and updates?

Yes, parents are added to a WhatsApp group for 24 hours (after that, it disspears). The purpose of this is to keep in touch with the nannies running the PlayPod and other parents in attendance (a chance to form connections over time). It's best if our nannies share all updates and photos to this group, so that they are not messaging parents individually and have more time to spend with your children creating fun connection and memories. If you don't want nannies sharing images you can opt out - just let them know upon drop off. Note: nothing is saved on a nannies phone ever. Photos are taken directly in WhatsApp and vanish after 24 hours.

Is the cost per child?

Yes currently it is, our nannies are highly trained and fairly remunerated for looking after more than one child at the same time.

Can I join the PlayPod too?

For the safety of other children, we'd rather not have un-vetted parents around our group interacting. Though you are welcome to sit, relax and have a coffee on the sidelines! Also note, some of the PlayPods are hosted during public events and playgroups, therefore there will naturally be other carers, parents and children in attendance - being looked after separately of course.

I can't make any of these. Will there be more activities, times and locations soon?

Absolutely! This is just the start. Sign up to our mailing list to hear when we launch with other activities all across NZ.
